1. Market Highlights
Prices of CRC and HGI coil in Chinese leading markets continued on the downward trend in December, discouraged by the sluggish demand from downstream industries. Steel mills such as Ansteel and Bengang Steel cut EXW prices for next January production to attract orders. However, traders had no confidence in the coming market and refused to build stocks. In the international market, China's export prices for CRC and HGI coil continued to decline and those in other Asian countries like Vietnam followed. As the Chinese New Year is approaching, there will be less buying activity in the market in January. Taking all factors into consideration, insiders predict that prices of CRC and HGI coil will edge down slightly in January of 2019.
