1. Market Highlights
Silicomanganese prices showed little fluctuation in November. After steel mills released purchase prices of RMB9,100/t (USD1,323/t) delivered D/A 6 months, most producers were delivering orders, and mainstream alloy plants were inactive in the spot market . The new production standard for rebar came into effect from November, and the water-penetrating process was cancelled, as a result, the demand for silicomanganese increased; meanwhile, the inventory on spot market was relatively low, therefore silicomanganese prices remained stable firmly in early-to-mid November . By late this month, as consumers' demand decreased, and buyers were reluctant to purchase, the price started to slightly drop. Mainstream prices of silicomanganese 65/17 stood at RMB8,450-8,650/t (USD1,228-1,259/t) EXW D/P, slightly down by RMB50/t (USD7.28/t) from early this month.
Manganese ore prices showed a flat and downward trend in November. On the one hand, there was large inventory at ports, and manganese ore prices lacked strong support, so traders reduced quotations a little; on the other hand, most consumers made purchases on rigid demand, so the demand release was limited, and the spot market saw rare transactions.
