1. Market Highlights
Prices for steel pipe declined both in China and in other Asian countries during the month, dragged by the dim market. Though prices for raw materials such as iron ore, coke and steel scrap kept rising, they failed to boost those for steel pipe to go up. The rigid demand from downstream industries remained weak and showed no signs of improving restricted by the gloomy economy. Besides, end users were cautious about placing large orders and only purchased according to urgent needs seeing the downward price trend. In the meantime, significant prices decreases in the steel futures market weakened spot market participants' confidence in the market prospect. Insiders think the price for steel pipe is likely to go down further in November.
