1. Market Highlights
Prices for welded pipe decreased in most Chinese domestic markets during the month dragged by significant prices declines of steel billet as well as those in the steel futures market, while those of seamless pipe rose slightly in certain regions due to the price increase of tubing blank caused by the short supply. Though September was the traditional peak season, the downstream demand showed no signs of improving, and end users complained high purchasing costs but limited orders for finished products. Considering the overall market inventory remains low, insiders foresee a slight price increase for steel pipe in October.
