Chinese stainless steel flat product prices saw an upward trend during this month mainly supported by the low market inventory and increase in steel mills' list prices, while those of stainless steel long products were generally stable. Although September was the traditionally high season for steel industry, demand from downstream customers did not become better and the market sales performance continued to be unsatisfying. Because of the high purchase cost and weak customer demand, traders refused to build large stockpiles and the market inventory remained low. Insiders do not think the market will improve in the coming month.
