1. Market Highlights
Compared with prices in late August, those for wire rod and rebar in Chinese leading markets did not show big changes by the end of September. However, dragged by the bad market performance and participants' pessimism for the coming market, wire rod and rebar prices' slide accelerated in the late September. As the demand from construction projects fails to strengthen in the traditional high season and stocks of wire rod and rebar will increase obviously in early October after the long holiday for the National Day, it will be difficult for prices to move up in the coming month. However, as steel mills are all preparing for producing according to the New National Standard, which will lift the production cost for wire rod and rebar. As a consequence, steel mills will try to hold prices firm to some degrees. Taking all factors into consideration, insiders do not think prices of wire rod and rebar will show big changes in the coming month.
