1. Market Highlights
Prices for HRC failed to keep rising during the month, and they even went down quickly in the last two weeks of the month dragged by the slow market, though September was the traditional peak season. End users purchased according to urgent needs and were inactive in building inventories seeing the downward price trend, for fear of another price decline. Meanwhile, the rigid demand from downstream industries remained insufficient and showed no signs of getting stronger. Holding low inventories at hand, traders were a little bit uncertain about the market prospect and cautious about supplementing stockpiles, so that the overall market inventory ran on a low level. In the meantime, leading producers either maintained HRC EXW prices flat or lifted them slightly. Considering most traders have suffered and the market stock remains low, insiders do not think the price of HRC will go down again in October.
