Prices for steel plate continued to go up nationwide during the month, mainly boosted by the overall low stockpile as well as prices increases of raw materials. However, the overall market performance showed no signs of improving. On the one hand, the downstream demand remained insufficient in the slow season, while on the other hand, complaining high purchasing costs but limited orders for finished products, end users were cautious about placing orders and only purchased according to urgent needs. Facing environmental protection pressures as well as high production costs, mills slowed down production during the month. Insiders think that the price for steel plate may keep rising in September.
