1. Market Highlights
The Chinese Rare Earth Market continued to witness softening downstream demand and sliding prices in May as a whole. Chinese PrNd, terbium oxide prices moved up in May, while the metal prices decreased MOM, which indicated that the depressed demand from magnet industry. The dysprosium, gadolinium, holmium, lanthanum and cerium products' price still declined this month, while yttrium and europium products' prices flatten out. In middle of May, owing to firm production costs, suppliers' watchful attitudes and few stocks from consumers, the magnet raw materials' prices revived a bit, which stimulated market deals then, while the period only lasted for a week. At the end of the this month, the China government arranged to carry out "Looking up" environmental protection inspection activity in June, thus the suppliers preferred to hold watchful attitudes and the prices are supposed to increase a bit in the coming former half month.
