1. Market Highlights
Prices for welded pipe increased slightly boosted by prices rises of raw materials as well as the low stockpile, and rising prices from mills also stimulated traders to lift prices to some extent, while those for seamless pipe kept firm. The market performance was satisfactory in the first half of the month following the upward price trend, while it turned out to be unsatisfactory from the third week since the decreasing price signal heightened end users' wait-and-see attitudes and they were inactive in placing orders. Though most traders held low inventories at hand, they were not confident of the market prospect seeing the downstream demand is likely to shrink further in June influenced by the high temperature and continuous rains, and they were eager to sell products to avoid potential risks. Insiders foresee a slight price falling back in June.
