1. Market Highlights
Prices for welded pipe dropped sharply by RMB180-340/t (USD29-54/t) in major Chinese domestic markets during the month, mainly influenced by significant prices declines of raw materials, and those for seamless pipe were a little bit chaotic. Reporting limited sales volumes, traders were not so confident of the market prospect, with wait-and-see attitudes. End users were inactive in placing large orders and only purchased according to urgent needs seeing the downward price trend, for fear of another price decline. In the meantime, frequent prices changes in the steel futures market heightened market participants' cautious attitudes to a large extent. Considering the overall stockpile remains low and the downstream demand is likely to get stronger in April with the weather getting warmer, insiders foresee a slight price rebound next week.
