1. Market Highlights
Prices for welded pipe increased sharply by around RMB200/t (USD30/t) in major Chinese domestic markets boosted by prices rise of raw materials, while those for seamless pipe kept narrowly stable during the month. Meanwhile, the market performance showed signs of improving in the first week after the 8-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Day holiday, but got back to unsatisfactory in the following two weeks since frequent prices changes heightened end users’ wait-and-see attitudes and they were cautious about placing orders. Besides, facing serious environmental protection pressures, lots of construction projects in North China had been forced to halt progress from Mid-October, and the rigid demand shrank obviously. Insiders foresee a slight price decline in November.
