1. Market review
Prices for section steel declined slightly in most Chinese domestic markets during the month influenced by continuous prices decreases of raw materials. Though September is considered to be the traditional peak season, the section steel market performed as inactively as it did this month with weakening downstream demand . On the one hand, the rigid demand shrank obviously as lots of downstream projects were forced to stop progress by restrict environmental protection pressures, while on the other hand, frequent prices changes heightened end users’ wait-and-see attitudes and they were cautious about placing orders, for fear of a further price decrease . Reporting unsatisfactory sales performance, traders showed little confidence in the market outlook and preferred to control stockpiles within a safety level to avoid potential risks . Considering both the supply and the demand are likely to reduce in October, insiders do not think the section steel price will change obviously by then.
