During September, prices for antimony ingot and antimony trioxide in the Chinese market tended to go down on the whole owing to relatively weak demand
. Affected by environmental inspections, bromide powder producers in Shandong and other major production provinces suspended production and thus imposed impacts upon downstream consumers of antimony trioxide, who put off their purchase plans correspondingly . As a result, sales and prices for antimony trioxide in the Chinese market were both affected . In the export market for antimony trioxide, affected by appreciations of the Chinese currency RMB, Chinese exporters of antimony trioxide kept their quotations firm and overseas consumers merely made hand-to-mouth purchases . No notable changes were seen in demand in the market . As for antimony ingot, affected by difficulties in selling antimony trioxide, producers of antimony trioxide became cautious in purchasing antimony ingots and negotiated heavily to cut prices for the latter . In early-to-mid September, consumers of antimony ingot and antimony trioxide harbored a strong watchful sentiment and the market fell into a weak fluidity; and most Chinese suppliers had to resort to the hope that domestic and overseas customers enter into the market to make purchases in mid-to-late September . During mid-to-late September, some Chinese suppliers of antimony ingot began to cut their prices in order to promote sales and there were notable decreases observed in prices for antimony ingot . And prices for antimony trioxide dropped too . Generally speaking, owing to still weak demand, prices for antimony ingot and antimony trioxide still face great pressure in the near future; but as suppliers held that operating rates of antimony ingot were still low, insiders anticipated that prices for antimony ingot would be likely to move down slightly further in October but the prevailing trend would still be stableness.
