During August, prices in the Chinese tantalum-niobium market showed an upward trend on the whole. Outputs of overseas mines remained at low levels, but domestic smelting plants were still cautious about making purchases as their operating rates were relatively at low positions, leading to a quiet spot market. The majority of end users hadn't returned to the market during the month after the summer break, but prices for downstream products rose on slow growth, so market participants took a wait-and-see attitude towards the market prospects.
