Influenced by increased raw materials’ prices and the prosperity in the futures market, wire rod and rebar prices continued to go up in July but they began to show some signs of falling back in late July due to the shrank demand from downstream consumers and the weakened support from the futures market. Steel mills kept being active in producing construction steels seeing relatively high profits and had no intention to cut output in the foreseeable future. However, it is the traditional low season in August, when the demand from building site will shrink further. Insiders predict that prices for wire rod and rebar are likely to fall back in August.
