During June, demand in the Chinese molybdenum market was as sluggish as in May and prices continued to move down. But in late June, affected by rebounding prices in the international molybdenum market and also by speculation in the domestic market, ferromolybdenum prices in China rose rapidly, giving rise to increases in molybdenum concentrate prices. On the whole, trading activities in the Chinese molybdenum market looked more active. But in the molybdenum chemical market, typically in sodium molybdate and ammonium molybdate markets, transactions were sparse and prices went down continuously until late June when they stopped dropping and tended to stabilize.
