This month, silicomanganese prices edged up driving by increasing production cost. Mainstream prices for silicomanganese 65/17 stood at RMB6,600-6,800/t VAT included EXW D/P early this month with steel mills beginning to restock at RMB6,750-6,800/t VAT included D/A delivered to plants. Then in mid-May, the prices presented no changes as producers were executing previous orders. Approaching the month-end, manganese ore prices increased continuously, so silicomanganese producers raise offers accordingly. The mainstream prices for silicomanganese rested at RMB6,800-7,000/t VAT included EXW D/P while the purchasing prices from steel mills were RMB7,150-7,250/t VAT included D/A delivered to plants by the end of the month, up by RMB400/t from early this month.
Manganese ore prices were on the increase this month but found difficulty in rising by the month-end due to weak demand. Although overseas offers rose constantly, with no support from demand, they may tend to be stable in the future.
