Prices of wire rod and rebar totally went down by around RMB300/t (USD43.5/t) in the month even though they showed a slight rebound in late April. Seeing relatively considerable profits, steel mills kept being active in producing construction steels. However, the demand from downstream consumers failed to show obvious signs of becoming strong. Insiders predict that prices for wire rod and rebar are likely to decline slightly in May.
