Prices for steel pipe declined in major Chinese domestic markets during the month influenced by decreasing raw materials’ prices as well as the slow market. Facing rising production costs but decreasing ex-works prices, mills were inactive in producing and cut output in succession. Meanwhile, traders were cautious about supplementing inventories because of heavy capital pressures caused by increased stocks. Besides, demand from downstream industries remained weak since end users refused to place large orders seeing the downward trend, for fear of a further price decline. Insiders foresee another price decrease in April.
