Prices for HRC in China dropped sharply and quickly in China during the month, with the mark-down of around RMB500/t (USD75/t), against RMB100/t (USD15/t) in February
. Mills maintained HRC list prices for April flat, but enlarged discounts, indicating that they were not so confident of the market outlook . Traders faced serious capital pressures caused by increased stockpiles as well as the poor sales performance . Meanwhile, end users were cautious about placing orders seeing the downward trend, waiting for a further price decline, leading to a stagnant market . Though the government announced to enlarge investment on infrastructure, the downstream demand for flat steel showed no signs of getting strong . Insiders foresee another price decrease in April.
