Prices for steel pipe increased nationwide in China during the month, mainly boosted by rising raw materials’ prices as well as psychological factors. However, the market performance remained as unsatisfactory as it was in January due to the weak downstream demand. On the one hand, February was the traditional off-season and the rigid demand was absent, while on the other hand, end users were scared of the sharp and continuous prices increases and postponed purchasing plans. In the meantime, the market inventory increased with the arrival of new materials. Insiders forecast a further price rise in the “Golden March”.
