Steel billet and futures prices all fluctuated sharply in December. Prices rose first and then decreased, so a watchful attitude prevailing in the market and consumers didn’t stock up rashly. Most section steel producers in Tangshan, one of the biggest section steel production areas in China suspended production for long time affected by the red alert of air pollution and the resumption date hadn’t been determined. Some producers had dissolved workers and didn’t plan to start to produce before the end of the year.
