Chinese silicon metal prices increased slightly in October and moved up fast further in November. All grades silicon metal prices saw sharp rise in November. The major reasons were that raw materials’ prices of coal and petroleum coke as well as the freight cost increased sharply. Furthermore, many consumers and traders added stocks actively at the time while some smelters held back from selling materials. The market calmed down in the end of November. The purchasing activities decreased and quotations stayed largely stable. Chinese polysilicon prices increased further in November. Most producers had orders in hand and raised quotations continually.
