In September, the Chinese germanium metal 99.99%min market ran steadily on the whole with transaction prices rebounding after hitting the bottom. Germanium ingot producers had difficulty purchasing raw materials such as germanium concentrate due to increasingly strict environmental protection inspections, and were facing a loss with prices dropping below their production costs; thus, they generally raised offers by about RMB200/kg during September. While end users persisted in hand-to-mouth purchasing with a positive attitude towards the market outlook, believing that the market would see only a limited increase in prices as demand remained unchanged.
