In October, in terms of domestic market, Chinese zircon sand suppliers had to move down prices slightly as a reaction to slack transactions. Zirconium chemicals witnessed increased prices driven by incremental production costs. Zirconium silicate saw poorer demand in ceramic industry nationwide but stable prices limited by production costs. Fused zirconia prices hovered in the low levels. Zirconium sponge suppliers reduced prices to destock and ease cash pressure.
As for overseas zircon sand market, Australian, South African and Indonesian zircon sand suppliers, such as Iluka, Tronox and RBM held prices unchanged in October 2016. South African zircon sands from RBM saw no delivery in October.
