As demand from end users remained sluggish, orders became rare and domestic smelters had to lower their prices to win limited orders. As a result, the tantalum prices decreased in August. At the same time, niobium products’ market saw stable demand and prices showed uptrend due to tight supply of niobium ore. Influenced by higher environmental cost, many niobium smelters preferred to hold their prices firm.
