The Chinese germanium 99.99%min market continued to be quiet in May as end users merely purchased the material from hand to mouth. Although major producers kept their quotations firm, the spot market still witnessed limited transactions. Considering that the transaction price was less than the production cost, larger producers noted that they had a lot of operational difficulties, and they don’t expect the price to decrease substantially in the future. In order to maintain operations, small producers and traders continued to reduce their prices for germanium metal; however, transactions didn’t improve significantly in the spot market.
