Prices for zinc on the LME and SHFE saw increasing decreases in early March as market participants were worried about the demand for the metal on account of the poor trading data in China and long positions left the market after gaining benefits with the previously continued increases of zinc prices. In mid-March, the Federal Reserve decided to keep the rate of interest unchanged; as a result, the dollar tumbled and futures prices for zinc picked up . Soon afterwards, the dollar strengthened again while zinc prices edged down . In March, the domestic zinc market transactions gradually returned to normal and the market supply of zinc concentrate was relatively tight; in general, the zinc market continued to see a flat trend in the month.
