Entering February, affected by the Spring Festival holiday break, the Chinese titanium market was generally inactive compared with that of last month, and the prices for most of the products stood at low quotations with limited transactions were concluded in the spot market.
Titanium concentrate prices were at low ebb, and the spot market saw the sales flat to that of last month. Domestic titanium concentrate producers suspended the production in succession due to the Spring Festival holiday and held little intention to resume the operation after the holiday break. The price of high titanium slag decreased as the major consumers marked down the offers continually. Titanium slag producers active in production suffered a lot from the price inversions. As to titanium tetrachloride market, the price increased a bit in line with the price lift of chloride after the Spring Festival holiday. Compared with that of last month, the price for titanium sponge remained on stable but positive trend this month.
Besides, the titanium dioxide market was in continuation with the bullish market of last month. But late this month, the downstream demand slowed down. Only some international giants reflected increasing sales.
With regard to ferrotitanium market, overseas ferrotitanium market held inactively on very few deals concluded during February owing to the weak demand within the steel industry and the prices for the material showed downward movement over the past couple of weeks. Chinese ferrotitanium market held stable and the prices remained unchanged at a low range.
