Chinese HR strip prices saw an upward trend during the month mainly supported by higher raw material costs and the increase in steel mills’ list prices. Since steel billet prices went up, major HR strip producers increased their prices accordingly. Nevertheless, as customers left the market for the Spring Festival holiday, the market sales performance continued to be poor. Traders were reluctant to build substantial stockpiles, intent on avoiding any risks and the market inventory remained low. Insiders do not expect the market to improve in the coming month.
