Following the price trend of steel billet, the raw material, prices of wire rod and rebar remained stable in H1 of February and generally went up in H2 of the month. As there was a long holiday for the Spring Festival (February 8), there was little buying activity in the market in the week before and after the holiday. Traders were encouraged by the sharp price rise of steel billet and lifted prices in two weeks after the holiday. However, the market showed some signs of weakening in last several days of the month due to the weak demand from construction projects. Insiders predict that prices for wire rod and rebar are likely to come down a little bit in March.
