Manganese flake stocks in China continued to stay at low levels as Chinese producers have been maintaining low operating rate since mid-October 2015. Chinese manganese flake prices witnessed a sharp increase of RMB900/t (USD136.8/t) during January, which was much higher than the price rise of RMB400/t (USD60.8/t) in December, 2016. The FOB prices for Chinese manganese flake, manganese lump and other manganese products also moved up substantially due to the remarkable price rise in domestic market. The transaction volume in domestic and export markets picked up slightly compared with that in Q4 of last year because of the replenishment at the end of the year.
