Section steel prices showed an upward trend in some domestic cities during the month, supported by the increase in raw material prices in early January. However, demand for section steel remained weak in major cities and downstream construction industries showed no signs of improving. There will be a long holiday for Chinese Lunar New Year in February and the supply is likely to become tighter, since most producers will stop production during the Spring Festival. Therefore, insiders believe that Chinese section steel prices will increase slightly next month due to the supply side reductions.
