The Chinese selenium powder 99.9%min market was relatively quiet during December. Prices for the material held stable after witnessing a small decline early this month, but market transactions were sporadic. Large electrolytic manganese plants lowered their purchase prices for selenium dioxide continuously early this month due to the price drop witnessed by crude selenium in domestic market. The selenium dioxide market became relatively quiet later this month as most electrolytic manganese plants had finished purchasing the material. At the end of the month, a few suppliers intended to raise selenium dioxide prices as it became difficult to restock crude selenium at low prices, but the actual transaction prices were hard to rise.
Prices for tellurium metal 99.99%min moved up over December after seeing a downward trend for a long time and picked up to above RMB200/kg. However, as raw material supply was tight in domestic market with its prices holding firm and downstream consumers waited on the sideline with large stocks in hand, the tellurium metal market saw few transactions on the whole and was in a stalemate.
