The Chinese tantalum and niobium market was weak during December of 2015. Most smelters received few new orders as market demand from end users remained sluggish and only arranged production based on long-term contracts. Meanwhile, affected by the rainy season in Africa, the tantalum concentrate output in some regions witnessed a decline, resulting in tight spot supply. Meanwhile, major miners stopped making transactions at low prices and took wait-and-see attitudes, waiting for the recovery of demand. As a result, the Chinese tantalum-niobium concentrate market was relatively steady during this month and may see a small rise in quotations after the New Year’s Day.
