1.Summary
As demand from downstream industry failed to see any improvements, the rare earth market was still flat in July. The market witnessed slow buying activities and dropping prices. Consumers held wait-and-see attitudes. Suppliers had difficulty in making deals and were pessimistic about the market in the near term. A few separation plants had halted productions, and some others planned to cease production in August. Affected by dim NdFeB magnet industry, the demand for PrNd and dysprosium related products kept soft, which resulted in few deals concluded and sliding price in the markets. The markets for europium and yttrium witnessed limited buying activities and declining price as a result of poor downstream demand. The markets for lanthanum and cerium were still controlled by purchasers and buyers were inactive to rebuild stocks. The prices showed downtrend. August is usually a slack season for NdFeB magnet industry and most purchasers in EU and U.S. will still be away from the market. Therefore, it is predicted that rare earth market will continue to be inactive in August and most of rare earth prices will keep sliding.
