As demand from downstream industry failed to see any improvements, the rare earth market was still flat in July. The market witnessed slow buying activities and dropping prices . Consumers held wait-and-see attitudes . Suppliers had difficulty in making deals and were pessimistic about the market in the near term . A few separation plants had halted productions, and some others planned to cease production in August . Affected by dim NdFeB magnet industry, the demand for PrNd and dysprosium related products kept soft, which resulted in few deals concluded and sliding price in the markets . The markets for europium and yttrium witnessed limited buying activities and declining price as a result of poor downstream demand . The markets for lanthanum and cerium were still controlled by purchasers and buyers were inactive to rebuild stocks . The prices showed downtrend . August is usually a slack season for NdFeB magnet industry and most purchasers in EU and U . S . will still be away from the market . Therefore, it is predicted that rare earth market will continue to be inactive in August and most of rare earth prices will keep sliding .
