Steel mills in Linyi, Shandong were forced to stop production at the beginning of this March as they did not reach the requirement of environmental protection. This issue became a hot topic and environmental protection kept influencing the market in the whole month. Consequently, steel production volume decreased and steel prices headed up as demands increased slightly with the warming weather. This even pushed iron ore prices to go up a bit. However, demands for iron ore were still weak and the bullish steel market failed to keep on. In general, iron ore prices dropped largely this month.
