In January LME nickel price went up sharply and then dropped down directly, in the second half of January nickel price fluctuated in a low level and hard to go above USD15,000/t. because LME nickel price was close to those of domestic brand and many foreign brand nickel cathodes imported top china. Stainless steel plants purchased nickel cathodes instead of ferronickel and thus nickel cathodes trading was active while ferronickel market was quiet. Nickel ore price increased slightly, moved to the opposite way of ferronickel price.
