The Chinese tantalum and niobium market witnessed few transactions in January. Overseas suppliers weren’t in a hurry to reduce prices in order to clear inventory as they expected that the demand wouldn’t rebound sharply before the Chinese New year, so they planned to keep their inventory until the demand picks up. Domestic smelters were still cautious about placing orders. They won’t make large purchases to replenish stocks as they received few orders from end users. It is predicted that the prices won’t go up in the near future for lack of demand from downstream markets.
