Over the course of the month, prices for HRC in China’s major cities plummeted because of the weak downstream demand. At the same time, export orders with shipment in January were fewer due to uncertainty over the tax rebate policy the previous month. In addition, the continuing decline in raw material prices offered little support to finished steel market prices. As we approach the long Spring Festival holiday, insiders predict a generally stable HRC market price in China over the coming month.
