Chinese silicon metal market continues to be dull in December. The operating rate for silicon metal smelters in China kept decreasing, however, Chinese silicon metal prices dropped continuously as the domestic and overseas markets saw scare purchasing activities in the end of the year and the inventory for silicon metal on the spot market was large. Due to the Christmas and New Year holidays, Chinese silicon metal export spot market was in thin trading in December and most deals were through long-term orders.
