Conditions in the construction steel market worsened in the last month of 2014 with prices for wire rod and rebar on the decline throughout. Prices for raw materials, such as iron ore and steel billet, ran on a downward trend and demand for construction steel shrank greatly as winter set in. The official announcement that the export rebates for boron added wire rod and rebar would be cancelled from January 2015 was another major blow for the steel market. Therefore, insiders predict that prices for wire rod and rebar will continue falling next month.
