The construction steel market made some progress in October and prices of wire rod and rebar showed a generally upward trend. After the seven-day holiday for National Day from October 1 to 7, the market began picking up stimulated by the news that most mills in North China will take overhaul or cut outputs from October 25 to November 11 for the holding of APEC in Beijing. However, the demand from downstream buyers did not increase much, and the supply will definitely increase after the conference in the middle of November when mills resume production, so insiders predict that prices of wire rod and rebar will go down next month.
