Market prices for grain oriented electrical steel showed an upward trend this month as WISCO and Baosteel both raised their ex-works prices for the material. Meanwhile, market prices for non-grain oriented electrical steel were powerless to increase, as the leading producers’ ex-works prices were either unchanged or on the decline. Considering the weak demand from downstream industries, insiders believe electrical steel prices are unlikely to increase next month.
