Stainless scrap prices went up slightly in the first week of the month, but they proceeded to fall during the following three weeks because of the ongoing sharp decline in raw material prices. Besides, with most downstream customers having built sufficient stocks to last them up until mid-October, traders were a little pessimistic about the market outlook for the month ahead and thought demand was unlikely to be released by then, even though it was the traditional peak season
. Insiders foresee a stable price next month.
