Although the Chinese domestic primary aluminum market saw overcapacity, the expansion of capacity had not suspended in 2014. The elimination of outdated capacity was very slow even in Central and Southwest China where production costs were very high, while new capacities continued to be constructed in Northwest China. With new capacities putting into operation, China’s primary aluminum output would continue to grow rapidly this year.
