Stainless scrap prices saw very little change during the month given the quiet market
. Although most traders believed the price was likely to go up slightly in “Golden September”, they held back from supplementing inventories, lacking confidence in the market outlook for August . Besides, there was talk of the Indonesian government once more allowing the nickel ore exports and if this came about, LME nickel prices would be likely to fall as a result, reinforcing cautious attitudes in the stainless scrap market . Insiders expect the stainless scrap price to remain more or less stable in August.
