Stainless scrap prices saw very little change during the month given the quiet market. Although most traders believed the price was likely to go up slightly in “Golden September”, they held back from supplementing inventories, lacking confidence in the market outlook for August. Besides, there was talk of the Indonesian government once more allowing the nickel ore exports and if this came about, LME nickel prices would be likely to fall as a result, reinforcing cautious attitudes in the stainless scrap market. Insiders expect the stainless scrap price to remain more or less stable in August.
