Manganese flake prices in China continued to increase by RMB250/t (USD40/t) to RMB12,450-12,750/t (USD2,004-2,053/t) in the first half of June, as a result of the tight supply caused by low operating rates the previous month. Demand from Chinese domestic end users fell back in the second half of the month, while the prices remained stable, supported by active purchasing from overseas consumers and the increasing cost of raw materials, such as selenium dioxide.
The Chinese imported manganese ore market remained quiet in June with few transactions, as demand from downstream industries that employ manganese flakse and manganese alloys showed no sign of rebounding. Mainstream offers for Australian manganese ore 43-44% were flat at RMB31.5-32.5/mtu (USD5.1-5.2/mtu) throughout the month.
