Silicon metal smelters in South China gradually resumed production as we moved into the rainy season and the output of silicon metal increased in June. Prices for silicon metal 5-5-3 dropped slightly during the month, while those for higher grade silicon metal held firm in response to the tight availability of the material. Chinese silicon metal export prices remained largely stable in June and the export price for 5-5-3 declined slightly following the price drop in the domestic market.
